One night in early 2017, Amy and I were having dinner at home. Out of the blue I asked her, “What if we quit our jobs and traveled for a year?” Once the initial shock of my question wore off, we decided to keep discussing it. After another few weeks, we were all in.
My initial idea of traveling through multiple countries, backpack style, morphed into something closer to home…a giant road trip. We decided that as much as we loved traveling the world, there was a huge amount of the USA that we hadn’t experienced. And what better way to see the good ol’ USA than in an RV?! Over the next several months, it was almost constant planning. What to do about our jobs and income? Getting our home rented. Where to keep all our stuff? What to bring, where to go and how to enjoy the ride as much as possible. I’m not going to lie…it was stressful!
Fast forward a year and we are now three weeks into our journey. We left Minnesota February 6th, and as I type this we are boondocking on the west coast of Florida. After three weeks, we have learned a lot about living life in 200 square feet. We have already had several “learning experiences,” but we are adjusting quickly.
With 14 months on the road ahead of us, we are looking forward to new experiences, meeting new people and less time behind a desk. Adventure Awaits!
PS…we would love to meet up with people along the way! We will be posting our whereabouts as we go, so feel free to reach out.
